Dylan, along with his family and friends, were anxiously awaiting and expecting his mission call to arrive on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Wednesday is the typical date of arriving mission calls for our area, so plans were made to meet at StarrLynn and Chad's house that evening to open his call. Unfortunately, Wednesday came, but no mission call in the mail. A quick telephone call was made to Bishop Mayfield, and he reassured us that the call had been extended and was in route according to the information that he had been provided. Thursday also came and went, but still no mission call in the mail. On Friday, Dylan traveled with his Desert Hills High School Basketball Team to play against Wasatch High School in Heber City, Utah in a State Playoff Game. On that same day, Brother Colby Dalley (Dylan's Young Mens President) called Dylan's dad, Kole, and asked if we had checked the mail. He stated that another young man in a neighboring ward had received his call that day. Of course, Dylan and the rest of us had reconciled ourselves to the fact that his mission call would not arrive until the following Wednesday. That night (Friday) Dylan's mom, Dawn opened the mail box to find a large envelope containing the mission call that we had all been anxiously awaiting. It was agreed that family members and friends would gather that Saturday afternoon to share in this exciting moment and wonderful experience with Dylan. Many tears of joy and shouts of excitement were shared that day as we realized that Elder Staheli would be serving our Heavenly Father in the Phillipine Islands during the next two years...what a wonderful blessing!
